A good number of banks and microfinance institutions provide financial services to the community in Tanzania. Recently few banks have collapsed however some of them are performing well and few have been merged to form a strong financial institution. On other hand Savings and Credit Cooperatives ( SACCOs) have had varied results--a few have been very successful and have changed the lives of many small scale entrepreneurs.
Interns work with the staffs to be trained about all aspects of microfinance, from assessing credit-worthiness to assisting with education programs and working on the day-to-day tasks within the office.

Our Interns will work with financial institution with a flourishing track record and place an emphasis on entrepreneurial development in the education of their clients. The first few weeks are spent working with the staff to get an idea of the day to day activities, the strengths of the organization, and to determine what projects within the financial institution (Bank/SACCO) to pursue during the rest of the internship.
Interns can pursue a wide variety of projects in collaboration with the organization including business skills development, developing business plans, microfinance education outreach, and project monitoring and evaluation.


FINCA is among the broadest and most comprehensive of microfinance networks.
FINCA Tanzania is the first Micro-finance Institution licensed and regulated by the Bank of Tanzania and begins offering savings accounts with additional banking services. FINCA have introduced Microfinance Bank introduced Agency Banking - using retail agents to offer proximity banking services. FINCA is operating in all GTLV destined regions


EFTA Ltd is a Tanzanian finance company specialized in serving small and medium enterprises and farmers. They focus on equipment loans with no collateral except for the equipment itself.
EFTA is the first company in Tanzania seeking to employ financial leasing to boost employment levels in the country and bring business growth opportunities to the [missing middle]. Africa private sector is heavily made up of informal small enterprises who lack the formality and collateral requirements sought by commercial banks and therefore lack access to the finance they require to grow their businesses. EFTA make use of zero collateral requirement addresses one of the key constraints on small enterprise borrowing levels, allowing our customers to pursue more ambitious growth plans.

Equity Bank

Is a commercial bank in Tanzania, licensed by the Bank of Tanzania, the banking regulator of the Country .
The bank is a member of the Equity Group Holdings Limited.
Duties perform are:
loan processing and approval,
investment management also includes managerial tasks, such as supervision of clerical work, taking decisions for the benefit of the bank, managing cash balance. This bank is operating in all GTLV destined regions.
